Walking with God at Work: 7 Tips to Stay Rooted in Faith
Tip 1 ~ Start Your Day With God
I just love the heart behind Psalm 5:3: 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord...' There’s something so powerful about giving Him our first thoughts. If we're being honest, though—when the to-do list is a mile long, finding time for daily devotions can feel like an uphill battle. But just like we wouldn’t skip a meal without feeling it, our souls need that spiritual food to keep going! Remember, God promises that when we seek Him first, He takes care of the rest. Before you jump into the busyness of your shift, take a moment to breathe and connect with Him. keep this sticker on your laptop as a little nudge to seek God first!
Tip 2 ~ Commit Your Plans to the Lord
I’ll be the first to admit it—I am a total goal-oriented person. I love the feeling of a fresh plan! Whether you’re a 'write-it-down' enthusiast like me or you just keep a mental checklist, we all have intentions we want to hit during our shift. Proverbs 16:3 is such a beautiful anchor for this: 'Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.'
Friends, I love this promise! Our Heavenly Father sees the big picture and truly has our best interests at heart. When we practice faith-based goal setting, we aren't just checking boxes; we're inviting His blessing into our daily tasks. The best days always start by laying our to-do list at His feet. If you need a little help getting started, our newly released Walking with God collection has several Christian notepad options designed to help you commit your day to Him!
Tip 3 ~ Have a Song in Your Heart
I know not everyone has the luxury of wearing headphones at work, but the good news is that we can always have a song in our heart! I absolutely love the verse in Ephesians that says, "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord". Personally, I love playing soft hymns to help with my spiritual focus while I work, but on the days when music isn't an option, I rely on that inner melody to stay connected to Jesus.
To help you carry that spirit of praise into your 9-to-5, I’ve added some new Christian vinyl decals to the collection. They are a delightful way to remind yourself (and others!) to keep a song in your heart all day long.
Tip 4 ~ Pray Without Ceasing
Our next tip for walking with God at work is one of the most powerful: praying without ceasing. Now, this doesn’t mean that you’re on your knees every hour of everyday in prayer—it’s about having a 'spirit of prayer' that keeps you in constant communion with Heaven. Whether you’re praying out loud during your commute or whispering to Him in your heart between tasks, prayer is so renewing! Remember to be still and listen for His voice, too. Whether your shift is a breeze or a total struggle, just calling on the Lord gives you the strength to thrive. I’m obsessed with this reminder sticker from the collection—it’s the perfect nudge to keep the conversation with God going all day long.

Tip 5 ~ Nourish Your Temple
When we talk about walking with God at work, we can't forget about taking care of the 'home' He gave us! Tip #5 is all about nourishing your temple. To show up as our best selves, we need to be both spiritually and physically fueled. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. I know how easy it is to reach for those sugary snacks when the afternoon slump hits, but try swapping them for something nutritious that actually sustains your energy. And here is your friendly nudge: drink your water and make some time for physical activity too!
Tip 6 ~ Search for God (in all things)
I just love this tip, friends! When you stop and think about the hundreds of tiny moments we experience during a shift—the conversations, the sights, the sounds—it’s actually amazing. What if we shifted our spiritual awareness to see those everyday things as invitations to connect with Him? When you’re taking a sip of water, let it remind you of Jesus as our Living Water. Making a quick phone call? Keep Jeremiah 33:3 on your heart. When we practice finding God in the mundane, even the busiest workday becomes a beautiful prompt to turn our eyes toward Jesus. When we learn to see Him in all things, our entire environment becomes a reminder of His presence. It’s such a simple way to stay rooted in Christ all day long.
Tip 7 ~ Christ in Your Character
We’re wrapping up our workday faith tips with a big one: Tip #7 is all about letting Christ lead your character. Friends, we are called to be walking witnesses for the Lord in our workplaces (and all other areas of our lives as well). When we reflect His love, patience, and kindness through our actions, it doesn’t just draw others to Him—it draws us closer to Him, too! Pray for the Lord to help you in treating every coworker lovingly and serving every customer as if you were serving Jesus Himself. Colossians 3:23 is the perfect anchor for this: 'Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.' Our Colossians 3:23 scripture print is a beautiful reminder to keep your heart focused on the Lord during your shift.
